Scar: Trading Journal ("Scar", "the app") is published by QuantSignals, Inc. It is a private journal for trading mistakes: you write down what went wrong, the app turns it into a rule, and reviews it with you over time. This policy explains what the app collects, how it collects it, what it is used for, and who it is shared with.
| Data | How it is collected | What it is used for |
|---|---|---|
| Journal entries: the mistake you describe, the rule derived from it, and your review history | You type them into the app | Showing your journal, scheduling reviews, and measuring whether a rule is holding |
| Trade details you choose to record (instrument, size, outcome, notes) | You type them into an entry | Grouping entries and showing your own patterns back to you |
| App settings and session progress | Stored on your device as you use the app | Restoring the app where you left it |
| Email address and provider profile (only if you choose to sign in) | You enter an email for a one-time code, or sign in with Apple, Google or Discord | Syncing your journal across devices, and carrying a subscription bought on the web or another device into this one |
| Subscription status | From Apple's App Store via RevenueCat when you subscribe or restore | Unlocking Scar Premium and restoring it on your other devices |
We do not collect your contacts, photos, camera, microphone, precise location, health data, or your browsing activity in other apps. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs, we do not track you across apps or websites, and we do not sell your data.
Turning a rough note into a written rule is done by an AI model. When you use
that feature, our backend sends the text of that entry to
DeepSeek (DeepSeek AI, api.deepseek.com) and returns
the rewritten rule to your device.
Your name, email address, account identifiers, device identifiers and subscription status are not sent to DeepSeek. Entries you never run through that feature are never sent anywhere for AI processing.
Entries are stored on your device. If you are signed in, they are also stored in our database (hosted by Supabase) under your user id, with row-level security so that only your account can read or write them. Subscription state is held by RevenueCat and Apple.
Scar is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
If this policy changes materially we will update this page and the effective date above.
