Gurus: Investor Chat — Privacy Policy

Gurus: Investor Chat ("Gurus", "the app") is published by QuantSignals, Inc. It lets you chat with AI-generated personas of well-known investors, one to one or in themed rooms. This policy explains what the app collects, how it collects it, everything it is used for, and who it is shared with.

The short version

Guru replies are generated by DeepSeek, a third-party AI provider.
The messages you post — and the recent messages in that room — are sent to DeepSeek through our servers so a reply can be written.
The app asks for your permission in-app before anything is sent, and nothing is sent unless you agree. You can withdraw that permission at any time in About → AI and your data.
The app works without an account. It never asks for your contacts, photos, camera, microphone or location, and contains no advertising or analytics SDKs.

We do not collect your contacts, photos, camera, microphone, precise location, health data, or browsing activity in other apps. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs, we do not track you across apps or websites, and we do not sell your data.

Sharing with a third-party AI provider

Guru personas are AI-generated. To write a reply, our backend sends the following to DeepSeek (DeepSeek AI, api.deepseek.com):

the text of the message you posted;
the recent messages in that same room, so the reply follows the conversation;
the persona instructions for the guru who is replying.

Your name, email address, account identifiers, device identifiers and subscription status are not sent to DeepSeek.

Gurus asks for your permission inside the app, naming DeepSeek and listing what is sent, before the first message leaves your device. If you decline, you can still read every room; nothing you write is transmitted for AI processing. Consent can be withdrawn at any time in About → AI and your data.

DeepSeek receives this content in order to return a reply and applies security measures to it under its own published privacy policy, at cdn.deepseek.com/policies/en-US/deepseek-privacy-policy.html. You should know that that policy permits DeepSeek to use content submitted to it to improve and train its models, and offers a right to opt out of that use. This is the main reason we ask for your permission in the app before sending anything, and why we ask you not to type private or sensitive information into a chat. DeepSeek is based in the People's Republic of China, so this content is processed outside your own country.

Other service providers

Supabase (hosted Postgres and realtime) — stores rooms, messages and profiles and delivers them to room members in realtime.
Railway — hosts our backend services.
RevenueCat — records subscription status so a purchase can be restored on your other devices.
Apple — processes the purchase itself. We never see your payment details.

Each of these processes data only on our instructions and is contractually required to protect it to at least the standard described here.

Retention and deletion

Messages remain in a room's transcript so the conversation still makes sense for everyone in it. You can delete your account — and every subscription and entitlement attached to it — from About → Account → Delete account, which removes your account record permanently. To request deletion of specific messages or of your device identity, email us at the address below and we will action it within 30 days.

Children

Gurus is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete the personal data we hold about you, and to withdraw consent. Email us and we will respond within 30 days.

Changes

If we change what is collected or who it is shared with, we will update this page and its effective date, and — where the change affects what is sent to an AI provider — ask for your consent again in the app.
